But the music is beautiful - would you know the name and artist?

Kathy, your video tribute to Michael is beautiful. What a red head he was when a boy! He is remembered by many, including those of us who never got to meet him, but honor him for his service.

Warning - if you have not watched it yet get some kleenex first.

Had to fire up the wood stove this morning. The house was cold! It was about 40* outside and wasn't all that warm yesterday, plus damp, so the house never warmed up. Today, more rain coming and high of 60*, if it even gets there. D'Anver chicks pipping and three other repeat broodies sitting, which means that 4 of the 6 who hatched chicks three months ago are doing it again. This weather is making me have to treat for cocci, which I don't normally have to do. You'd think the cold winter we had would have fixed that, but it didn't even make a dent in the mosquitoes and ticks this year; in fact, I think they're worse than ever.

Love the video Kathy!

Cyn, if she's overwhelmed by two chickens, send her to Kathy's place to pet sit!

Only if Kathy wants a ton of dead birds. Good grief, I started with 10, plus Hawkeye a few months later, and it was easy peasy. I've had as many as 55 and now have somewhere in the 40's. Why she thinks two little pullets are so darn much work is beyond me. She'll be getting rid of them. She said the dog she got was a huge mistake when she got her, poor overfed little butterball.

Kathy - Toni doesn't look as intimidating as a broody hen. Glad she and her BFF's have some chicks.

Elderly woman across from my driveway had a coop built that sits directly across the road from the end of my drive. I think, oh, no, nutty delusional woman who thinks coyotes don't eat chickens and her Boston Terrier won't hurt them either, is getting chickens after talking about it for years. Well, today, DH is driving out of our driveway and sees two young red pullets, about 8-10 weeks old, running around her car, not in the self enclosed coop. She says, oh they're so much work! He says, you think they're work now, just wait until they are grown. She says, oh no! Well, you may be getting two chickens. He says nothing doing, we don't take birds from anyone, ever, period, that we practice biosecurity. So, now, I have to worry about stupid woman allowing her two possibly diseased birds (if she got them at a certain feed store in town, I wouldn't be surprised if they had something) to roam rather than stay in the coop she had built, just like she paid good money to put up a chain link fence and her stupid little dog still roams down to my driveway gate occasionally. Really? She thinks two little pullets are so much work? Sheesh. Might have to make two chickens disappear if they show up at my house, same as any predator.

Sounds like they won't last long enough to worry about it. If the predators don't get them, her dog probably will.

It is from my video editor and it says, "Pavane." It has 6 "variations," and they are Vow, Repose, Pax, Lilac, Wonder, Garden. They all sound similar.

Kathy, your video tribute to Michael is beautiful.
Thank you. A school teacher made that up as a gift to us all. It is a treasure to me.

Love the video Kathy!

Enough chicks here! Holy Moly! I have 11 broody mamas running around here with chicks in tow!

Toni Turkey killed a yellow chick yesterday and another one this morning. She wants the black ones. I took her away from the 2 sitting hens and moved her into the feed room (4x4). She BROKE OUT ! ! She broke through the chicken wire! First time, I had the door not latched and she just pushed it open (it is tight).

So, I locked it and she broke through! Soooo, I am trying this now....... I locked her in there again, but this time with 2 black chicks. She seems very content now. Who knows?
