I love animals! I have a son that was born with the number one birth defect back in the 80's. Spina Bifida. He is in his 30's now. Doing well. Dogs love that boy. :)

The goats were being photogenic today!

This is Emily (and momma Aussie Harper in the background)

Pokey the buck- he was being a butt today. I was crouched down taking photos of chickens through the 2x4 fencing and he butted me HARD from behind.

Anna (Ah-na) looks like she's laughing at me!

Ouch !! Aussie mama should have come to your rescue.

Yeah ever since she had her puppies 2 1/2 weeks ago she and Pokey do NOT get along. It's not pretty we need to finish some fencing to give them their own space. We had the pasture brush hogged Saturday and ground broke for a BIG garden. This winter we are going to fence the garden/orchard (grassy area to the left of the garden plot), then create a goat paddock roughly where I am standing, then fence the front of the property which has NO fence, then fix all the perimeter fencing which is in ROUGH shape.

The pasture looks a lot smaller when it's cleared! The orange box is the duck house at the pond, we have chocolate muscovies down there.

I am playing with french toast this morning. I am waiting for Michael to get up and help me with a syrup "pour" shot. Those are really hard to do without a helper.

This definitely falls into the "too much time on my hands" food category!

p.s. it is stuffed with cream cheese and pumpkin pie spice.
I'm coming over for this!

Oh, and we have a new grandson this morning via Michael's daughter.

That's all I know.
Congrats!

LOL muttsfan!

Congrats on the grandbaby Mary! Share details when you get them!

Anyone ever seen swelling like this? At first I thought bee sting but treating with benadryl and waiting 24 hours did nothing. I'm thinking ear infection? I have some Bactrim DS left over from another chicken's infection I'm going to try treating with that first. This guy is just a capon/half capon (I think I slipped) so he's not worth a vet visit but it sure looks uncomfortable. Eyes, and mouth are completely clear and normal except being swollen shut. Nose has a slight amount of drainage, you can see it in the pic. Exterior of ear looks fine but it is swollen shut pretty close to the surface.

That looks awful! Can you see anything inside his mouth?

Thanks!

Michael drove to the hospital this afternoon for a visit.

Baby and mom are fine. His name is Michael Wylie but they will call him Wylie since his dad and just about every other male in the family is named Michael. Here is my Michael with his grandson Michael Wylie.

Awwww. And holy moly, Michael has lost a ton of weight! You can see it in his face.

Gotta love a dog like that.

Mouth eyes and nose were clear. The next day it was even worse. I decided he either needed immediate help or immediate release. Cut into the swelling with a scalpel hoping to find cheesy pus to get out but it was a solid, fleshy, well-attached mass, the diameter of a ping pong ball but only half the thickness. It bled heavily. I went ahead and put him down. I assume it was a tumor of some kind.

WARNING. Spoiler pic not for the queasy.
