storm finally got here this morning.... Just a gentle mist like rain.... here by the coast. They say heavier rain will come in waves for the next few days.... Projection is an inch down here and up to three inches in the mountains.

All good.

Has the storm passed? Is everybody and everything okay?
Everything here is fine. It was a very good rain. Last night when we got home, we were at 5 inches in one day. I think we totalled out with the overnight rain at 6 inches. I didn't think it was as bad as they were saying. We had winds, but they weren't too bad - we've had much worse winds in the past.

Yay for much needed rain today!

Got a new layer today- One of my mottled orps has finally began laying! They are about 8-9 months old. Good size for a pullet egg!

Nice egg and beautiful pullets!

wow thats a big first egg.... I havent been around Orphingons are they large chickens?

English Orps are massive.

Thats HUGE... do they lay alot of eggs?

Mine (blue orps) have not been the greatest layers, I'd say average. They are the slowest birds in my flock to molt - they have so many feathers to replace. And they eat..........a lot.

We ended up getting some snow yesterday morning. we where just above the snowline but the National Weather Service said snow to 5000 ft we are 3400 so it was a surprise id say. it didn't stick much here but up the hill a 100 ft they had a nice flocking and 600 feet higher about 4 to 6" I did not hear what the peaks got but i would imagine over 3 feet.

next storms call for rain here but snow a few hundred feet higher. they say colder storms which probably means we will get some more. My Penedesenca do not like the rain or snow . the Bantam Ameraucana i have are not that smart and sit on top of there coop in the rain and snow. may be time to hatch there replacements before they get killed by weather or stupidity haha
