Laying egg? Broody Emu?

These are the 2 pairs and trio I put together:

Coop #1: My silver boy with black girl and blue/orange Lukka daughter.

Coop #4: Mottled Boy without crest with my girl with big crest.

Coop #5: Blue boy with my blue/beige/dark grey girl.

I knew that was a broody emu boy - is Louis the one with Loca? That will be soooooo exciting, especially because you don't have a winter with tons of snow and below 0 temps.

That IS good news

That is Louis who is in with Chica. Chica has been flirting with me and Michael and that is a sign of readiness. Well, for emu mating of course. Loca is doing it too but Stuart is out-to-lunch most of the time pacing the fence line. She laid down today in some pine boughs I threw over the fence and she stayed there for quite awhile. Loca started laying in january last year so we'll see! And you are right on about our weather. I wish the silly things would go in the shelters!

It is Louis building a nest! He stayed there for a couple of hours which is unheard of for an emu. He was moving twigs around him and throwing grass over his back! No eggs yet though.

Oh yay! A possible broody boy!
The 2 Icelandic males look quite happy. They don't have to run from the 11 males I still have in that coop. I am a bit irritated that your pictures look so much nicer than mine.

I got 2 pumpkin pies, a cheesecake, yams, cranberry sauce, cornbread for the stuffing, and the bread dough done today. I've been cooking non stop since Mary left.

Tomorrow, I have to make and bake the rolls, put the stuffing together, set the table and vaccuum. Then it's just put stuff in the oven at the right time.
