Stella's Social Club

I actually have some nice smooth Jack Daniels with vanilla liqueur that I am planning to try rather than the Kesslers (too harsh for me). Just sitting inside admiring the beautiful white blanket of snow, dazzling in the sun - the girls, however, are not impressed with the 12 degree temp and have not set a toe outside yet.

This was are big one back in 09 when we had over 2 feet of snow by the time it was done. I shoveled all day to get my extremely ill little girl to a appointment . It got down to 1 degree the next morning which was the coldest id ever seen it on this side of the sierras

The temperature differences are so odd here. It is 51 in Woodland at 5:06pm. It did not get higher than that today.

What are we, 45 miles from each other?
It takes me a little over an hour to get to Woodland, so probably more like 65 miles. You had the fog though, and we had sunshine. It was a beautiful day.

Question: does Kelly wear artificial nails - huh,. huh???
Nope. I do get them done though, otherwise I'd have no nails between gardening and chickening.

Mmm hot lemon tea with honey is my go-to for scratchy throats. Never tried ACV in it, but I know it's good for ya!

We are sitting in the 60s every day recently, and in the short term forecast. Nice, but very weird for January. Typically January temps are closer to highs in the low 40s. The bees were out like crazy so we took the opportunity to do some free feeding with sugar water. Worries me if it gets cold again before anything can bloom they will starve.

My chickens are starting to kick in to lay with the warmer weather, too! 23 eggs today- woohoo! The last few days we were sitting about 18 per day. A few weeks ago it was 5 per day. Spring is on it's way!
I need to give my bees some sugar water too. It's been on my list, but haven't gotten it done yet. Today I will!

I got 9 eggs yesterday!

And increasing every day.

I meant by going in a straight line. I think you are up 80 towards Auburn. Straight line is 30 miles to there. By road, It is a very different distance.

It is going to be the same today--we will get to 51 and are at about 80ft elevation. The foothills will be near 70 at the lower elevations.

Holm25 what a beautiful batch of eggs - is that from one day's haul?

No we just wash our eggs and put them on the towel. That is about 3 days of eggs there. Then when someone buys eggs we carton some up and sell 'em. It is amazing how they last if you keep them out of the sun, but with store bought eggs they can't sit out as long as fresh.
