Quote: You cannot cap a tooth that is in need of a root canal tooth-it doesn't solve the problem. It's something different entirely. I have had to have root canal on teeth already crowned-they do it right through the crown. I have one tooth that has such a huge filling that the next step has to be a crown-there is supposedly some decay in there and it will be a race to see if it begins to hurt and necessitates a root canal first (or, the dentist would typically do that) or a crown from the tooth filling breaking. If I pull it, it's on the same side with the one just pulled, closer to the front and would show if left open. Only other options are bridge (again, making the "virgin" tooth have to be drilled to be a leg of the bridge) or an implant. My SIL has all of her teeth implanted. I can't imagine what that would have cost her, but they never had dental work as kids and gum disease was common. She opted for implants rather than dentures in her 40's. That would be my preference, too, but the $$ is over the moon without some insurance; and even with it, if you could find a plan that would even cover that, it would still be very costly.
Something I have never understood is why insurance does not pay for dental work. An infected tooth or gums is an infection and can even cause heart problems. Go figure. Yes I am at that stage too where one tooth to root canel or replace cost a holy fortune. Just had one done. Don't let a reg. dentist think he can do a root cannel. Nooooo now 6 yrs later and a lot of pain I just had one done over by a specialist. nO more pain thankgoodness. Now if the other one was done. sigh!!!!! I also have to have a crown removed because decay has gotten under it. My teeth are very soft. Always have been. What I do not understand is why the Dentist charge sooo much for fixing our teeth one at a time???? I do beleive they are taking advantage.
I have jubilee orps in the hatcher and under a hen hahlf and half. Maybe this way I will have at least some to hatch. Later in April I haope to put Blue part English and Delawares in to hatch too. I know I must be a bit crazy but oh its such a high to see those little pips and then the peeps running around.
Good luck on the hatch!! (and the teeth)
