Every afternoon our back yard gets taken over by 30+ wild turkeys. Yesterday one was right outside the back door struggling to take a poop. It was freaking me out. This morning when I stepped outside I found this instead of poop!

Speaking of eggs, my little broody Icelandic has been trying to hatch all winter. I have been unsuccessful in thwarting her efforts by sitting on infertile eggs. Finally she got one that was fertile and I think she'll have herself a baby chick by tomorrow. I truly thought she was going to die trying. I'll post pics when and if she is finally successful.

Since Rinda is experienced in beekeeping, thoughts? I did a hive box reversal last month, as the bottom box was completely empty and the top box was almost full.

You did right switching the boxes. If I were you, you know this is a young queen, I would mark her and scrape the queen cells off the frames. Now that they have lots of room above there's a good chance they will be happy to stay. If you want honey that's what I would do anyway. If you want to split put the queen cell frames in the new hive with a few more built frames. This early in the season you may still get a small honey crop off the older hive!

I did some reading and it looks like these cells are emergency cells? They were at the top of the frame in the top box (the one that was empty)

I also sent an email to the beekeeper I bought the bees from, hoping he'll have some advise for me too. Thanks for your thoughts Rinda! If I decide to leave them, I'll be adding the honey super soon.

We were robbed of seasons this year.

I have been busy making some changes around here to make the house appeal to a wider audience. I gave away the massive old piano in the living room and turned it into a real living room. The kitchen is so far away from the family room, I suspect people had trouble envisioning themselves cooking while the fun was happening elsewhere.

So for a little over $300.00, I furnished the former "parlor" with furniture and artwork from Craigslist, thrift stores, and Michaels. The sofa was from a Craigslist ad. It looks brand new! Now all I have to do to show the new living room is to pry Michael and Tucker off this couch!

You have been busy. I hope you get it sold soon.
