No problem Mary. Glad I was there for you to talk it out with. She was a special hen, and will be missed by many of us, but I know she was even more loved by you. You gave her a wonderful life, and she went peacefully.

Typing while sobbing.

We lost Lukka during the night. True to her spirit and gentle soul, she passed away peacefully in a nest box, sitting on three eggs I planned to have for breakfast. Isi, always by her side, was in the coop with her.

Michael laid her to rest in a shady spot in the pasture with her other old friends.

RIP sweet mama.

So sad for you. She was the epitome of a great hen.
