Stella's Social Club

Thanks Mary. A lot of blue Icelandics in the US came from Lukka and I am glad for that. She will live on in that sense.

Yes, robhuncor I still have Stella. I have no idea how old she is but I have had her since April 2009.

I think Dusty is broody. She was in her "usual" laying spot (not a nestbox

) and when I tried to check for an egg under her, she tried to take a chunk out of me. She's sweet as pie, until she goes broody.

She lives on in my flock, and in the flocks of those I have shared birds or eggs with.
Here are two photos you sent to me of Lukka and her chick, my Ari. He brought blue to my Icelandics.

Ari at 9 months old:

Both Drekki and Falki are of Ari's line.........and Kella and Elska.........she lives on........

I too had a bad day yesterday, and lost one of my hens to sour crop. It's the first time I have ever had a sour crop in my birds. I had been trying to treat her, but I guess I was too late. My son named her Stormy, and she was a spitfire for sure. She was a mixed breed olive egger and a great layer.

She is the chick in front here with her mother.
