I'm sorry, Mary. I was a realtor for 8 years to put my sons through college. Gave me many bad memories. If I was your representative, you can bet you'd have had a different experience. I hated to have to drag other lazy realtors along with me, make them do their blankety-blank jobs, so a transaction could close for both buyer and seller. I was in the office until 10 p.m. many nights, dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s. Ethics, including work ethic, were a joke to some of these folks. And trust me, it was sometimes the clients who tried to put something over on us all. You couldn't pay me enough to do that job again. I did it RIGHT.

Real estate, generally, is not a place for someone who is a perfectionist with integrity. And no one can tell me otherwise. There are some good ones, of course, but they can't do the job alone and it gets to a person after awhile, trying to make all parties involved do everything they're supposed to do on time (or at all, geez). The stress wasn't worth it to me. I hate that you're dealing with one of "those" types.

ETA: I read about Lukka and commented on your blog. You know I've been there numerous times and I hate that for you. She was a wonderful hen.

Kathy- oh my yes, Lukka was something special.

Kelly, sorry to hear about Stormy, too. I've lost some Orps to crop issues. The blues seem prone to it, or my line did anyway, though, thankfully, my Dusty, who is 7 now, has never had that issue.

Thanks Cyn and Diva.

I've never had any crop issues in my flocks, so this was a first. But oh my word, the smell. I just don't think I caught it soon enough. She hatched 9/2010, so she wasn't even 5 yet.

So sorry!

Crop issues either are or become a fungus issue. It leads to vent gleet.

Never seen a case of vent gleet, though had to deal with quite a bit of sour crop. Most of the crop issues have been when it quit functioning as a symptom of a system-wide shutdown, not specifically a crop problem, though. Gotta keep them out of the compost pile where they can get hold of moldy feed.
