I am so ready for Fall. We need rain and I am tired of being hot and sticky at 9:00 a.m. Anybody else?

The California fires have been on the NY news for days and the pictures and videos are spectacularly frightening. How are all you guys in CA doing? I hope you all are ok.

The news today said that there are 18 fires in the state. Several are close enough to Woodland that we have smoke and it is hard to breathe.

Clear Lake has a big one that has burnt down buildings.

I was just watching the Clear Lake fire on the news. It was awful and they said it's only 5-10% contained. They also said 21 fires in CA. I feel for you guys suffering from the smoke and uncertainty - I just can't imagine it.

Clear lake is about 40 miles form us--It is a terrible fire!

It is hard to breathe.

Wow, 24 houses and 26 outbuildings lost in the Clear Lake Fire so far. I feel badly for everyone up there.

I hope you get cooler weather and rain. Here I am not ready for fall, we had our first 90* day this year last week. It was also the first week this summer it wasn't raining every other day. I'd like summer to hang on a bit longer here.

Smokey air is better today. The Clear Lake fire is somewhat better today with cooler temperatures and less wind. Praying for containment soon without loss of life or more property.

I just got a little good news on my chicken yard fence. PG&E came out and gave us the go ahead to dig. All nine utilities have responded now so we are good to go. The guy with the auger will be out tomorrow evening to dig the post holes. I hope to get the handyman out Wednesday to set the poles and string the wire on Thursday. Hopefully I be able to take my chickens off Kelly's hands by Friday. I feel so bad that she had to be the one to find poor old Skye passed away this morning. I knew it was coming and hoped she would wait until I got her home. She was one of my oldest, if not the oldest and lived a wonderful life. She was sweet and gentle and we'll miss her.

Judge Judy has not looked well for some time now either. She is older than dirt as well. Again I am sorry to burden you with this Kelly. I thought it would be a few days at most. Was I ever wrong!

It's really not a big deal. When you have *cough* over 50 chickens *cough*, what's 3 more? Plus, you are taking 2 more when your 2 go home. You will have 4 chickens, and I still will have over 50.

I'm sorry that Skye didn't make it home for you. I guess the heat did her in.
