She is just missing her friends. She isn't really loud. She just walks around talking. All the time. I am so excited for the first egg. It has been ages since we had an egg to eat due to broodies! I have checked the nest boxes ten times today. I put the metal one in and someone has been trying it out because the hay is matted down.

I feel for Stella, she is a gypsy princess and meant to roam free. Unfortunately she landed in a back yard and domestication was forced upon her. Still her spirit soars.

I had to admit defeat last night. I've been trying to get a queen in my split since mid May with no luck. So, I went and bought a mated queen last night. Here she is before I installed her in the hive. They immediately surrounded her, but they didn't look hostile towards her. We put wax over the candy plug so she can have a little more time to be accepted by the hive, since they have been queenless for so long.


Whenever you think you know something about bees, they let you know that you know nothing.

My chicks are growing out. I really like this red cuckoo orpington girl.

They are carry cages, but yes I have had queens shipped to me in those containers.

We're getting a break to the heat this week, low to mid 90s for the highs sounds SO much better than the temps we have been dealing with!
