It was a great day. Hubby took me out for Chinese and our two littles were so good! Tyler is coming out tomorrow with a jello cake for me! YUM!

I still have 4 hens TRYING to sit. I just continue to collect all the eggs every day. Anyone else have broodies?

I just took one broody out of the garage where I send them to break them of being broody. Now another one is broody--she will go into the cage tomorrow.

I have a hen that was going broody. Based on advice from others on this site i decided to put her in the isolation coop outside for three nights. When i let her out (she was not pleased to be in there) her broodiness disappeared and she was back to her normal friendly self.

How many broodies left sitting?

2 1/2. The BCM is still sitting, another Barnevelder, and the crazy English Orp is off during the day and squeezes in with the other Barnevelder at night.

I thought about giving the Olive egger egg to the BCM, but it was zipping when I went to check last night, so I left it under the Barnevelder. The little Welsummer chick looked fine, and by the markings, appears to be female.

Unfortunately no. Luckily, it was ready to hatch, no unabsorbed yolk, and the veins had receded.
