Demolition starts on Tuesday morning! I won't be here for it though.

My mom is having angioplasty and I will be at the hospital. It is just a couple of miles away so I might slip out a couple of times and come home and check on things.

The oven I bought via build.com is stuck 30 miles from my house and I can't get it because they didn't put my name on the shipment. Fought for 10 hours about it on Friday to no avail. Then I posted a rant about them on my blog. So I don't know what I will do for an oven. Cabinet guy needed it for measurements.

We are returning the large freezer/fridges we bought. We didn't notice when they were delivered, but the fronts are all pitted and dimpled. We only saw it when we opened the garage door. It looks like someone has been hitting golf balls into the doors. Hard to see unless you enlarge the pic. I think under recessed overhead LED lights it will be even more noticeable.

Anyway, I assumed we could return them but now RC Willey is saying we might have to pay a 30% "restacking" (sic) fee. Are you kidding me? I paid $4400.00 for these! They should be perfect! That fight will resume on Monday with the Frigidaire district manager.

I ordered a sink but I am refusing the order because I got it from build.com. After the fiasco over the oven, I don't want to have to deal with them in any way, shape, or form. I am spray painting a white sheet to read "refusing all deliveries from built.com" and hanging it across my driveway so the UPS driver can't get in. Then I'll file a dispute with my bank to get my money back. Build.com said it was too late to cancel the order even though it hadn't shipped yet!

My kitchen and dining room lights arrived. I love, love, love the chandelier I found at Shades of Light. It will go perfectly with my farmhouse decor. I love the Edison bulb!

Oh, and Michael wired it for me!

Just kidding, this was just temporary so we could see how it would look. But, it is still like that this morning. Johnny will hardwire it for me next week.

Over the peninsula I will have three hanging pendants. They are called modern Mason jar lights. They are sort of reminiscent of Mason jars but a bit more refined than the DIY variety. I am not taking on any DIY crafts involving electrical current!

I bought a ceiling fan for the living room, which can be seen from the kitchen and dining room. It has the bronzed finish and the light globe is ridged glass with a bronze metal cage around it. Sort of industrial-meets-farmhouse look. It should tie-in nicely with the other fixtures. I am using bronzed metal knobs and pulls on all the white cabinets throughout the house. The kitchen will be a mash-up of modern and farmhouse. I hope I pull this off or I am going to have to live with the mess I have created!

I love your lighting choices! Especially that chandelier.

Your build.com fight is even worse than the time someone stole my credit card, bought a big expensive vacuum on walmart.com and tried to have it shipped to a PO box, which they cannot do, and so it came to me instead. A huge $400 vacuum that I had no use for, and while the bank was quick and caught and stopped all the other charges before any could go through, since the vacuum came to me, they ruled it not fraud and wouldn't refund my money, even though it wasn't my name on the box! Then, I took it to Walmart to return it to get my money back that way, and they refused to give me my money! Made me take a Walmart gift card! Now, I shop at Walmart from time to time, but not for anything worth $400.

I hope it works out for you and you're able to successfully file a chargeback.

Oh good grief! I just had to file a fraud against Sears because I ordered a refrigerator from them that I never got. On the day of delivery I called to ask where they were and I was told that they didn't have the refrigerator in stock. It was a unique all-refrigerator unit. They said they were still looking for one and couldn't refund my money for 10-14 days while they searched all over hell and back to find one. If they couldn't find one in that time, they would refund my money. I told them I was a young mother with babies to feed and no way to keep formula chilled. I thought they would just go ahead and give the money back. Nooooo. Luckily I had the money to go find it elsewhere but what if I didn't and the story about the babies was true? It took my bank so long to investigate that the two weeks had gone by and Sears had refunded the money!

They can take money out of our account in a nanosecond but it always takes a lot longer to put it back.

Have fun at WalMart!

I can spend $400 at Wal Mart in about 2 trips

- in my defense, there are not that many places up here to shop.

Love the lights.

I just finished installing a new in-cabinet oven. My old one, a 4 year old POS Maytag, has had progressive issues with the touch pad, finally ending with only being able to bake at 350 degrees - and no light, broiler, convection, or ability to change the clock. When I looked into fixing it they said the repair would cost 300-400, and then the new sensor would also likely kick the bucket within a few years

So I ordered a Whirlpool from Home Depot, on sale, delivered right to my door. And when I went to put it in realized it was narrower than the old oven, and there was an unsightly gap on both sides. Pulled the oven back out (those suckers are heavy!). Cut some wood to trim in the sides. And since it would be impossible to match the color on my cabinets, painted the trim black to match the oven. Attached the trim along the sides of the opening. Fortunately a friend stopped by and helped me put the oven in again (did I mention they are heavy?), screwed it in place, wired it in (a trip into the creepy crawl space involving electricity which I have a huge respect for and high level of fear of) and Whalla! It works! And the house did not catch on fire! (Pat on the back).

If anything CAN go wrong, it WILL go wrong, for Mary. What's with that anyway? Good grief!

Well, I will tell ya what . . . . . I have had ENOUGH DRAMA here to last a lifetime!
As long as the sheriff or deputy keep making rounds out here, I might feel safe. We still do not have dead bolts on every single door. They will have this week though.

Honestly, is it really VERY VERY VERY cold in Alaska? Considering a move there . . . .

Kathy what the heck is going on, or I guess it is none of my business. Stay safe though. I kind of felt that way with the whack job neighbor we had two houses ago. She just liked to sue people but her son seems to want to fight.

So far this is our biggest problem with a neighbor at this house is K.C., Tucker's new BFF. He comes to the front door looking for Tucker every morning.

If we ignore him, he just waits a while.

Then tries the back door.

I haven't had to call the sheriff yet though!
