Demolition starts on Tuesday morning! I won't be here for it though.
My mom is having angioplasty and I will be at the hospital. It is just a couple of miles away so I might slip out a couple of times and come home and check on things.
The oven I bought via build.com is stuck 30 miles from my house and I can't get it because they didn't put my name on the shipment. Fought for 10 hours about it on Friday to no avail. Then I posted a rant about them on my blog. So I don't know what I will do for an oven. Cabinet guy needed it for measurements.
We are returning the large freezer/fridges we bought. We didn't notice when they were delivered, but the fronts are all pitted and dimpled. We only saw it when we opened the garage door. It looks like someone has been hitting golf balls into the doors. Hard to see unless you enlarge the pic. I think under recessed overhead LED lights it will be even more noticeable.
Anyway, I assumed we could return them but now RC Willey is saying we might have to pay a 30% "restacking" (sic) fee. Are you kidding me? I paid $4400.00 for these! They should be perfect! That fight will resume on Monday with the Frigidaire district manager.
I ordered a sink but I am refusing the order because I got it from build.com. After the fiasco over the oven, I don't want to have to deal with them in any way, shape, or form. I am spray painting a white sheet to read "refusing all deliveries from built.com" and hanging it across my driveway so the UPS driver can't get in. Then I'll file a dispute with my bank to get my money back. Build.com said it was too late to cancel the order even though it hadn't shipped yet!
My kitchen and dining room lights arrived. I love, love, love the chandelier I found at Shades of Light. It will go perfectly with my farmhouse decor. I love the Edison bulb!
Oh, and Michael wired it for me!
Just kidding, this was just temporary so we could see how it would look. But, it is still like that this morning. Johnny will hardwire it for me next week.
Over the peninsula I will have three hanging pendants. They are called modern Mason jar lights. They are sort of reminiscent of Mason jars but a bit more refined than the DIY variety. I am not taking on any DIY crafts involving electrical current!
I bought a ceiling fan for the living room, which can be seen from the kitchen and dining room. It has the bronzed finish and the light globe is ridged glass with a bronze metal cage around it. Sort of industrial-meets-farmhouse look. It should tie-in nicely with the other fixtures. I am using bronzed metal knobs and pulls on all the white cabinets throughout the house. The kitchen will be a mash-up of modern and farmhouse. I hope I pull this off or I am going to have to live with the mess I have created!
