Hi Kathy! Glad you got some rest. What's going on with your chicken mystery? Any more loses? I have been thinking about you and hoping that your problem is solved.

I lost 4. I have no idea, but suspect some kind of poisoning. No losses since then. I hope there are no more!

Oh wait - I did have one more loss. One of my New Hampshire boys got locked in a wrong pen - and I have no idea how that happened. There were 2 big Barred Rock boys in the pen and they beat the heck out of him. I put him down myself, as he was not improving.

Kathy - I'm so glad your losses are over. How scary.

Mary - this picture will have to do for a bit. It's 28 out and I'm cozy by the heater. More snow last night.

Good news Kathy! One of my little project boys got under the fence and into the wrong run. He ended up with the Icelandics so his biggest problem was Lukka, she's got big babies you know. When he tried to go in the coop with them at night, she chased him out and the pop door closed with both of them outside. Luckily we were gathering birds for Farmer Fred to pick up the next morning and saw that they were out. If he had tried to cuddle with Lukka for warmth outside she might have adopted him though and kicked her real babies to the curb.

Tomorrow we are supposed to get a short break from the rain. We are going to try to clean the wet Stall Dry out of the coops and go back to shavings. Yuck. That is going to be so gross.

Read it and weep friends. Here are my beef tenderloins all dressed up and ready for the oven! Salted and seared on all sides, brushed with whole grain mustard, rubbed with fresh herbs and pepper, shallots and Meyer lemons added to the pan, just resting until it reaches room temperature, then it's going in the oven. Thanks Molly and Chris! Oh WOW Mary, that looks amazing.... Sorry you had trouble with your oven. I'm glad it still worked out..

Oooh that looks yummy! We had a nontraditional steaks on the grill Christmas at my sister's house, though I did bring smoked duck as an appetizer. My DH wants to raise a whole bunch of meat ducks next year.

I have to admit they are easier than turkeys.

Went out to gather eggs today and my Blue Copper Olive Egger has gone BROODY. I've got to break her. I can't get more chicks. I have too many already.

Worked from 9AM to 2PM today. Tomorrow and Friday will be ridiculous.... booked solid. Oh well.

DS#1 and wife flew in from UT today. Nice having them here.

Here you go Mary.......

I love the icicles! They look like Christmas lights!

Very pretty. I thought there would be more snow on the roof. Nothing is a pretty and snow on pine boughs. I think you might find those when you get home too. Chain control was at Alta this morning.
