Stella's Social Club

It's been a crappy day.

Have to have my DH cull a young barnevelder cockerel that injured his leg. (he was at the spunky I want to breed age) It's been over 3 weeks and he went from limping to not able to stand at all despite my best efforts to heal his leg. (I still can't figure out where the injury is, but I can feel "heat" in that leg) Then I found out that all my bees died and I have no idea why. They had honey storage, so they didn't starve. I did everything you are "supposed" to do and they died anyway. Ugh.
I hope your having a better day today!
Sorry about the cockerel and the bees.

I have a VERY HAPPY broody Blue Icelandic hen (Blucy)with four little chicks under her. 1 Blue Am. 2 Splash Ams and a barnyard mix. I gave them to her in the middle of the day and she took right to them.

Tonight when I checked on Ida, my other Icelandic mamma, somehow she had coaxed her little ones up onto the roost with her! I have no idea how they flew up there.... I showed my 15 year old when he was helping me stack feed in the feed shed and he couldn't believe it either.

10 patients tomorrow morning and then an appointment with my eye doctor to get new glasses. I hope that they have the same frame style that I'm wearing now.

Dar, I'm glad you got some chicks for Blucy!! She sounds like she needs to be a momma. Yeah, the chicks getting up on the roost early is an Icelandic hallmark! Gotta luv 'em!!

ok the first 7 hatched this morning. I am leaving them in there till this Empordanesa hopefully hatches. I know they are good a few days. but with the egg cartons and chicks walking around and unhatched eggs it is a tight fit in there.
But THERE IS NO WAY I am opening this bator tell he has a chance to hatch.
