Stella's Social Club

Mary, d'ya think Stella would accept my application to her Social Club? (I'm all the way up to post #239 but if I ask after I get to post #3102, it may be weeks from now.... Well, a couple days..)

I hatched some Icelandics last year, from eggs I received from thebirdguy, if that's required for admission.
Hi Linda!

I was trying to work on the coop and run some between moving. Hope to get the rest of the holes dug. posts up and gate up tomorrow

I think it hit 20 this morning there. Had about a 1/2 " to a inch of fluffy snow last night. Very cold. water had drained into my post holes and froze. Had a hard time getting it out.
That's some dedicated post hole digging. Ugg!

Patience is a virtue. After 48 weeks, my barnevelder pullet finally gave me an egg. Freeloader no more!

Wow that's a big pullet egg! Either that or you have the hands of a 6 year old.

23.7 degrees in my back yard. I can't believe this garbage. One more day.
So sorry Mahonri, no way the peppers have survived that.

Absolutely horrid weather front!! I have struggled to keep my newly hatched chicks warm...in gargage. under 2-250 watt bulbs. flannel sheet 'tent' suspended over the brooder top to trap heat. Garage says 40 this morn. Brooder got down to 82. they are doing just fine. I guess hatching in winter even in desert valley is challenging now! Hope your plants made it...I lost my broccoli pretty much despite measures taken. I also lost lots of foliage off alot of our shrubbery...grass is done. Oh well, it is what it is. the foliage and grass will return (-; On a lighter note, my 8 month old BLRW pullet laid her first eggs over the weekend. Bravo!

Yep cold here too. I have not had the heart to put the 9 week olds into the juvie pen. They are still in the brooder stall with a heat lamp. The stall has a small run and these wimpy babies have not even ventured out during the day. I think I created a bunch of wimps.

Deb....got the barred rock bantams from Horstman.

these look to be the packing peanuts that were included....any ideas what they might be?

in comparison to the bantam barred rock

and just for fun....the first white rock bantam i hatched from my birds with some barred rock bantams

Mary, Diana used to look so svelte. I don't want to be rude but, is there any chance she is pg?

P-I-G is more like it.

Yes, it's a big egg. Either a double yolker, or she skipped pullet sized eggs.

The black one looks like Marans. The other one could be a blue Marans.

The black and yellow one at the top looks like an Black Australorp. Horstman does not sell those, but he does sell Blue Orps and Blue Andalusians. My guess if they are bigger than the Bantams is one of those. Should be fun either way.
