I posted this on the predator thread. centrachid said he thought he saw something in the hawks talon. I watched the video frame by frame until I saw it fall to the ground. I went out with my camera to the spot it fell and found this.




Maybe it wasn't there for the chickens at all. But I'll bet it didn't appreciate the beat down it got from my girls!

1) that none of the chickens were hurt

Growing up in Northern CA, My Dad named hawks by the size of their prey. Yours he called a Sparrow hawk. The big ones like the one that got Jason's birds he called a Chicken Hawk.

So pretty, how dark of an olive do they lay?

he is actually my crele penedesenca and they lay a dark brown egg.
You cross them with a creme legbar and you get a auto sexing olive egger that lay a nice olive egg.
Both Creme legbar and crele penedesenca roosters are double barred. The Hens single.
You get lighter male chicks and darker females. If you are unsure then you know for sure when the barred feathers come in on the males
