Happy Birthday Mahonri!

I"ve known a few schizophrenics  and I know  why they go off meds.  The meds make them "dumbed down" and they walk around like zombies - docile but, not experiencing life in any meaningful way. The put on tons of weight, some of them  end up with  tardive dyskinesia -   I know the alternative (no meds) can be chaos  - I wouldn't want to be making that choice.  I don't think meds& treatments  have kept up with them and the side affects can be as bad as the disease.

Current ECT  is not at all like the stuff of snake pit insane aslyums.  Just the same I don't know it to have helped any of my friends.
It's true that most of those meds do little more than dope them up. Sometimes a doctor will hit on a combination that actually does some good, but only for a limited time. In her case I've been watching this circus for all of my 50+ years. At least she does as she's told most of the time but you do have to say it simply and one thought at a time. The early shock treatments she endured damaged her badly. She is brilliant in reality, but you almost never see that side of her.

Anyway, I never thought of it that way from the patient's point of view so far as not wanting to be dopey. And you're correct, I don't think any of the drugs really really help the patient's condition at all. But many do let them at least function, which is better than nothing.

I had a welsummer on the nest last night. I threw her butt off the nest and THANKFULLY, she's out in the yard this morning.

Nipped that in the bud!

The worst part is when you say it's a senior order and they don't blink. They just give it to you. It means you look like a senior....................... My theory, I really look 20, but they don't want to embarrass me by asking

I've been wanting to butcher some quail. I told DH if we didn't get a few done today, then we were having nothing for dinner. Hopefully that will cause it to get going this morning. My plan is to braise them with broth, white wine, mushrooms, onions and a tiny bit of cream to finish the sauce.

I do my cull chickens that way all the time and they are

. I'd try grilling them, but these quail have been in the pens a long time. Maybe the next time we can try grilling them if we process them young like we should have done.
