I think this is the picture thedragonlady was referring to. I got it from the pictures on her profile page. Looks like a great solution but I'd be tempted to hang the laundry out!

This did not work for me. I used 40 lb heavy game. I have heard if you use 100lb heavy game test in a pattern like this or a grid pattern and a hawk try's to dive bomb then the hawk will not make it

I'll admit. I HATE AGING. It ain't for sissies.

Saw an add on Craig's list for a mother hen with 7 babies. I actually called the guy in Glendale to see if she was still available. Then I looked at my coop, brooder and two grow out pens and said to myself. "YOU HAVE A CHICKEN ADDICTION-YOU NEED TO SELL SOME CHICKENS"...so, now I'm evaluating which ones will need to find a new home and which ones get to stay.

This weekend everything get's CLEANED. I'll have to run up to Western Ranchman to get some more pine shavings and diatomacious earth, but I just have to get it done.

I can tell one of the two blue marans I have is a roo and he will have to go. He is darker anyway, but the blue pullet looks like she'll be lovely.

These polish are just so hard to sex.

woke up with a PAINFUL neck sprain.

Worked from 7:30AM until just after 1PM and then after making my deposit at the bank, I went to the office of one of my patients who is a professional Rolfer. (Deep tissue massage) He spent 2 and a half hours working me over.

I feel SO much better.

I'm going to have to start posting pics of my polish and Icelandics so Kelly can tell me which ones are roos.... I can't afford to be feeding chickens I can't keep. I "think" that at LEAST 4 of my 7 little Icelandics are roos.... so now I'll have to figure out which one of the four I'll keep. The one that I thought would be Drekki III, looks like it will be a pretty little pullet.

I'm praying for Mary's sugery tomorrow and that by this time next week, she'll be feeling MUCH better.

Miss Molly, I hope you've taken the proper antibiotics to get rid of your infection. Get better.
Glad you are feeling better. I don't have polish, but I'll give it a shot at sexing them. And Ditto on Mary and Molly feeling better!
When will little boy blue arrive?
He should arrive today. I spoke with Mary and she said she got him shipped off and it was only expected to be 1 day shipping.

Are those whites from your white mating, or regular cream legbar mating? I know you kept a pair of the whites and I'm curious if their eggs are blue.

The white chicks come from my regular cream Legbars. I get a few white chicks out of every dozen.. My older white pair should start laying early spring.
I really like my little white chicks. I will try to get a picture of the older white ones. The feathers are so bright...

I just tracked the blue boy. He has made it through the sort facility in Kansas and is "guaranteed" to arrive to Kathy by 3:00 p.m.! The P.O. does not take their own guaranteed delivery dates/times very seriously though. BTW Kathy if his feathers look dull I dusted him as a precaution before sending him off. They stack the live birds on pallets at Sacramento and that makes me worry. Also I haven;t wormed my birds for awhile and he is pretty young so he has probably never been wormed. Just a head's up.

And yes, I did stop by the antique mall. I bought a duck decoy for the mantle. Michael said the parlor is looking a bit "girlie." I also bought a black hat with feathers to hang on the wall in my office. I bought another picture of a chicken which is n direct violation to the "no more chickens" deal I made with Michael. But it was so cool I had to have it. He'll never notice one more, right?

I ran the other errands I needed to do in the big city and came home late in the afternoon. I moved my chick into the living room for the day because they were hanging out in the Hovabator after hatching in the Brinsea. I have permission to use the bathroom in the basement to incubate and keep chicks for a few days until they are ready to go into the brooder house. I think the temps will be much easier to maintain in the basement than outside in the cold, non-insulated little yellow house. The bathroom in the basement is just an old non working shower and a sink. No toilet. It was an ancient boat toilet that they took out before we moved in because it didn't met code. They installed new laminate wood flooring so it should work well for incubating. Plus, there are no windows so I can candle in there. Y'all know I'm a candling fool!

Most of today will be spent worrying and waiting for my appointment at 1:45 to have this wisdom tooth extracted. I check back in when I am coherent again.
