Quote: We moved from the orchard to a house in the City when I was in High School. The house was poorly built and had a vaulted ceiling along with openings at the eves. The first Spring we were they we realized that a bat colony was living in the walls. They either go dormant in the winter or migrate, so in the Spring they would get into the house. We contacted pest control and were told that the best thing to do is to wait until fall and then seal up the cracks at the eves and the opening at the beam in the big room over the garage.

It is a very freaky thing to wake up in the middle of the night and have a bat whizzing over your head...and the high pitched squeaking.....

I lived in a barn one summer to it got too cold. We had a ton of bats but I have always loved them. I used to catch anything I could for a pet until I heard the snake I was stalking rattle.

Linda has bats in her belfry! Or she's gone batty. Or she's an old bat. (my husband calls me that one, accompanied with the kids having their hands up by their heads flapping their "wings")

Mary - I'd be happy to leave a chick for Michael. How about I take all the pullets and he can keep the cockerel? Sounds like a good deal to me.

I think I can speak for Michael on this one Kelly. Actually, I know I can speak for him. "No!"

Oops!

Of course, they laid in the mud in their run instead of the nest box, but got my first CCL egg today....................and I got two!

That color does NOT translate in the picture, I need something for comparision..................and clean eggs.

Very Nice!

Congrats Deb! Blue and green eggs are so hard to photograph. My pullet CL eggs have been small. I am now getting very large eggs from the older girls!
