You've spent your life taking care of others, it is time to take care of yourself now. I will be praying for you.

Kathy, sorry to hear about your health issues! I cracked 2 ribs in february coughing and they still make themselves known when I sneeze or get hugged hard - take good care of yourself. I would send you some of the finally nice weather we are getting if I could. Really sorry to hear about the hatching, but I sure understand - maybe if you do some fall hatching you could keep me in mind.

Maybe we should all keep bees http://www.desmoinesregister.com/ar...-drop-result-multiple-factors-government-says

My cat Loves chicks, she plays with them until they no longer move, then wants a new one. Bats too - I always make sure her rabies vaccination is up to date.

Oh dear. I hope you clear up. The coughing part can be horrible. :(

We had 95 this week share your snow.
And to complete the most miserable week -  We got snow last night ! ! !
It has been raining, raining, raining, snowing, raining, raining.....

High of 36 today. Forecast: 49 Saturday (and rain continues), 60 Sunday (and rain continues), Monday 68 with a bit of sun! (however, Wednesday, the rain is to return).  :rant     :somad

Hi everyone! Love the pictures, stories, and videos! Keep 'em coming!

I have been sick in bed. I finally gave in and went to the doctor today. Good news is - I don't have bronchitis, like I thought I did.

I have pneumonia, and a cracked rib from coughing. To complete the diagnoses, there is a suspicious spot on my lung they want to investigate.

I currently have ZERO eggs incubating. And ya know what - - - I think I am done......

Tyler is moved into his own place. Brittney has moved into her place. I just want to feel better, so I can suffer through this empty nest syndrome I have heard so much about.

Get some rest and get better soon!

Believe it or not, there are 15 chicks under this big broody plus some eggs that she is sitting tight on!!!

Since we had the strong Santa Ana winds all day yesterday and the pool was chocked full of twigs, leaves and yellow blossoms, (and I spent HOURS cleaning this pool) I had to capture this moment in time when it looks pristine. Water temp is 74... perfect! After checking on the broody after midnight I went swimming.

Garden... lots of squash, both zucchini and yellow crookneck, tomatoes, peppers, cauliflower, and strawberries with the run in the background and coop in the back right corner.

Eloise, my EE who just started laying HUGE Green eggs.

Two of my five polish girls. These are the only two laying. The other Buff laced has no wattles, just a beard.

OK, Kathy, is she a Delaware or a Columbian Rock? She is HUGE and just started laying small dark brown eggs.

Another pic of mama.. she just has to stay tight on those last few eggs until Monday night. Think she'll make it? If not she's got the fifteen chicks to care for and she is such an attentive mother for a first time broody. (Black Copper Olive Egger)

Part of the laying flock. From L to R. Lefty (PW Leghorn), Red, Delene, Mary (BCMarans), Barbara, Buffy, Eloise and Lacy.

Wow! Now I feel EXTREMELY special, to have some of the last chicks incubated by Kathy.

GET WELL SOON!!!
