Awesome! Now if you could just get Mike to go.............:hide :gig Congratulations. Wait, who's Brock?
Mike works out of town. He is only a part-time husband. :gig Well, until July 1st that is...... he is retiring and will be home ALL THE TIME. Brock is son #3 - he is our 38 yr old (schizophrenic) son. I suppose he will always live with us.... which wouldn't be so bad - IF HE WOULD TAKE HIS MEDICINE ! ! ! (He is not currently taking it and refuses to)......
My older sister is schizophrenic and bad to the point she needs 24 hour care. (Don't get me started on 60's medicine and shock treatments) Anyway not taking medicine is common among people with that illness. None of them want to take it. I suppose their friends in their upstairs region tell them not to. :idunno Sorry, I got so far behind on this thread!

Just went out to check on the broody, all 15 chicks were eating starter feed and mamma hen was helping them find the best pieces to eat. I was worried that she might reject the SLW as it looks different than the rest, but it just fits right in with the rest of them. One of the chicks just loves climbing up on top of Mama. It's pretty warm in the feed shed where I have them (91 degrees outside right now), but it's in the shade so all is well. The eggs under the broody just have to make it to Monday night. I hope she doesn't give up on them, I'd love at least one Naked Neck.

Happy birthday Dar! :D

Hope you feel better soon Kathy :/

The Icee chicks from Deb are hatching for the Cinco de Mayo hatch....will post a couple pics of them on Monday when I get to work.

I"ve known a few schizophrenics and I know why they go off meds. The meds make them "dumbed down" and they walk around like zombies - docile but, not experiencing life in any meaningful way. The put on tons of weight, some of them end up with tardive dyskinesia - I know the alternative (no meds) can be chaos - I wouldn't want to be making that choice. I don't think meds& treatments have kept up with them and the side affects can be as bad as the disease.

Current ECT is not at all like the stuff of snake pit insane aslyums. Just the same I don't know it to have helped any of my friends.

Dar, I'm confused is your broody sitting or raising chicks? Do you have two?
She's doing both at present. The eggs under her are not due until Monday. So she's doing both at the moment. I'm hoping I get at least one Naked Neck to hatch out of the five eggs she's setting on . Only two candled well last night before I put the Kathy's chicks underneath her.

I'm crossing my fingers. I thought about putting them in the brinsea with the other 28 eggs but that would be a tad crowded.. .unless I candled and removed quitters... but it's only been 7 days and I usually don't candle until day 10.

I'll have to see how antsy the broody/mamma is getting. She's still sitting tight on the eggs and the 15 babies go in and out from under her. Fun to watch.
