Sweet pictures Cyn! Yesterday I saw a cream legbar in the nestbox and I wanted to yank her out by the feathers of her crest. I decided to wait a few minutes. She was just in there laying an egg. Imagine that?

I noticed this morning that my Light Brahma is getting her buzzard head look, so molting is starting as I suspected. Feathers will be flying soon. She's been spending a lot of time in the nesting box, but no eggs. (and no, she's not broody) She hasn't laid all summer. I'm hopeful that she'll lay in the spring so I can get a daughter from her. I had one this year, but the stupid hawk got her.

I made the poached pluots in riesling wine last night. It was pretty sweet by itself, but would be great on top of ice cream or pound cake. Just a quick phone picture before I ate it.

My Isbar pullet laid her first egg today! She surprised me because she's not even red around the eye. But I caught her in the nestbox and stayed until I got the egg. I'll have to get a picture, it's a lovely mossy green.

I still get excited with every egg I find, even if I come in the house with a bucketful and already have a few buckets already sitting on the counter.

I feel like it's an Easter egg hunt every day. I love going out and finding the eggs. Some of the Icelandic girls are a little more "creative" on their placement of their eggs.
