Caught this posting and have to ask , where did you get your Birchens? I am just now starting to get girls with markings. Originals had very little if any. My roos, purchased as chicks, had copper that I'm now working out, but it is now showing in some of the new pullets. The one roo I did keep has a crooked toe. His son though has very nice feathered feet and color. I have no pictures of him.

he's beautiful! i hatched my two 21-22-week-old birchens (one boy, one girl) from eggs from Thistledown Farms in Davis, CA, but her website doesn't list birchens any more -- i've also hatched one additional female chick from eggs from April Howington in TX, except April realized after sending the eggs there may be some parentage mix-up for those eggs -- planning to get some more eggs from her once her birchens are laying more regularly, probably in spring.

Mary, who is that GUY, looking right at the camera, in the last photo of your countertop sequence.   I feel an instant connection to him. Hmm

Hmmm, Diva likes the tall dark brooding type...

The grass is green, but the temp is topping out in the low 40's and the waterers had ice this morning. Winters coming - too fast.

I thought maybe Diva recognizes a Relative from "France".

Dilema here: I locked down my last hatch for the year today. I am trying to replenish my Isbar flock since re-homing the egg eaters. (the problem still persists in that coop occasionally) I found of the three Isbar eggs, two were late quitters leaving me only viable one Isbar. All six of the project eggs are fine! I have ten fresh Isbar eggs saved. Shall I do another hatch? Should I just forget about it? I have one Isbar roo, two hens and two pullets. I wanted one roo to to six hens.

What to do? What to do?

Yes to another hatch!

Is spellcheck driving you crazy? I have to read my posts over and over to find them. I typed silestone about 15 times yesterday and it kept changing it to milestone. Roo gets changed to too. Beachy gets changed to be achy.

It is driving me nuts!

Just posting this was a pain!
