Caught this posting and have to ask , where did you get your Birchens? I am just now starting to get girls with markings. Originals had very little if any. My roos, purchased as chicks, had copper that I'm now working out, but it is now showing in some of the new pullets. The one roo I did keep has a crooked toe. His son though has very nice feathered feet and color. I have no pictures of him.

he's beautiful! i hatched my two 21-22-week-old birchens (one boy, one girl) from eggs from Thistledown Farms in Davis, CA, but her website doesn't list birchens any more -- i've also hatched one additional female chick from eggs from April Howington in TX, except April realized after sending the eggs there may be some parentage mix-up for those eggs -- planning to get some more eggs from her once her birchens are laying more regularly, probably in spring.
