Oh ick! Well, we have every other darn sport here, though I haven't caught that one yet. I dislike most all sports. (My husband and sons all LOVE sports and were athletes). Why in the world people like to cheer on guys hitting and hurting each other, I will never understand.

I live in the ctry on 4 acres of beauty. But the land is long and narrow. I have a family that since their father passed away have gone crazy shooting at all hours of the day and evening. One is their teens, one of them is in drug rehab, another needs to be and one is so far quieter. They have unholy tempers with their girl friends and unfortunately I can hear them. I live just above and to the side. All sound travels up. This summer my stress level too is high. I have come in many evenings due to the gunfire and cursing next door. My peace broken. I hope soon they will get it out of their systems and return to normal. I use to love here soooo much , now at times I have questioned my sanity for stubbornly staying here.
Dealing with neighbors can be very miserable, that's for sure! We have lived in the country our entire life, and would hate to move back to town or to nearby neighbors.

Pop Quiz:

Last night I moved 7 juveniles to different coops after they fell asleep. I moved 5 BCM's, 1 Partridge Barthuner, and 1 Icelandic. Tonight six of them were huddled outside in the run after the pop door closed, and one was safely inside, on the top roost! Which one made it inside?

My guess is - - -
Not the ones from France.
Not the one from Switzerland.

I haven't a clue what the 5 chicks in the contest are.

We don't watch too much television. Last spring we realized we were only watching an hour or less a day, so we canceled cable and used Netflix, Amazon Prime, and tried Huluplus. We recently resubscribed to cable so I could watch football, and we watch other things now that it gets dark so early.

BRRR - 6AM and it is 14° here. A good day to stay under the covers and sleep late.
I need to move further south. I dislike winter weather immensely.

Fortunate for me, Mike does the chicken chores now.

I think I will go make some hot chocolate and toast. If I am lucky, I may even have a few marshmallows left that I can use. (If Kayson did not eat them all)

Well, we do have the gun enthusiasts, certainly. The black powder ones are the loudest. Not usually that much of a problem, but we did almost get shot once when some idiot down the hill through the woods was shooting squirrels in his garden with a 22. Bullet hit a garden post 20' from where we were standing. Had the sheriff deliver the message to him to stop shooting up the hill. Idiots.

Tom doesn't watch sports, other than the rare UGA game or sometimes, we'll watch a Falcons game. I like some football. HATE baseball.

Off the subject, I have to say I'm hooked on cowls! I never used to wear scarves and never, ever wore a cowl, but now, doing barn chores, I find they are PERFECT! They keep your neck and depending on how wide they are, your mouth and nose covered, and don't trail accidentally in shavings, and worse, poop.

So, check out our slideshow of cowls in the featured item on BRC, everyone. I made a cowl and fingerless gloves just for me and that is what will be keeping me warm this winter. Wore them yesterday to our grocery trip in lieu of jacket. I am hooked! http://www.blueroocreations.com/featured-item

I recently bought a "circle scarf," at Walmart, and I really like it, too. Very nice and it is so versatile, too. It is 22" wide and the circle is 82" ... Sorta like this one (first photo) ...... They must be rather popular this year, as I am seeing quite a few around. I don't care for the ones that are very very wide and they are even using them as a top, but I do like to cover my head (ears) and my neck in the cold. (Some call it an infinity circle scarf)

Yup, we have some of those longer ones, too, that you can circle several times. Basically, a cowl is a mobius/ infinity scarf in a shorter version, just a scarf with bound ends. The terms are sort of interchangeable, I guess, really. I love those, too. I just like those better than the plain scarves with ends you have to manage, don't you? Been there with shavings, dirty and otherwise, getting into the ends when it works its way out of my coat, YUCK!

Here's one I made that's in the store. This one is crocheted with two strands of yarn in slightly different shades of blue held together at the same time for warmth. Very soft.

What I don't like about some of the commercial ones I've seen are the silky fabrics-those seem so COLD to me! And the yarns used in some commercial ones are just not good quality. I try to use better yarns in the apparel. The scratchy ones go in the tote bags since they have some body and structure to them.
