All marmosets are very cold intolerant, and the pygmys most so. Also, they are very susceptible to respiratory infections. Like ocelots, they are beautiful but north of Mexico they can only live in very warm surroundings, and away from infections. If it wasnt for this they would all be very popular pets and companions. The little primates and the cats.
The only South American primate that I know of that is NA hardy are the spider and woolly monkeys, but, not great temperaments, and they are very strong for their size. The rhesus and relatives are probably the hardiest of all primates, relatives from the Gibraltar apes to the Japanese ones we see in winter hot water pools. The little squirrel monkeys were once widely sold but they too are just not hardy for NA.
But, all this said, these little guys are sure cute, I wish they were hardier.
