Stella's Social Club

Was just on the phone with LH when she yelled for her husband. That darn thing came back! I'm on pins and needles waiting for her to call me back. I hope they kill that sucker!

I saw the rat. My birds were alarming and looking toward the compost pile where there is an old piece of plywood leaning against one side. I got my little League bat and went over there and sure enough, it was under it. I dropped the board, but couldn't reach the rat with my weapon as it dodged around the plywood, which sort of got in my way. It scooted under the bantam coop, which is lower to the ground than the others. So I have to figure out how to kill that thing and its friends.

Lancelot is doing well. The vet checked on him again today and he's healing up nicely. That is one robo-rooster!

I hope the get it! What a terrible thing that is.

Oh I forgot to share my photo class submission for last week which I just submitted yesterday. I caught a break because their system was messed up for uploading pics. I adapted a recipe from the Tractor Supply Cookbook.

The recipe was for herb scones and it called for buttermilk which I didn't have. So I made my own with milk and lemon juice. I zested the lemon into the scone batter and added a handful of finely grated cheddar cheese.

They were really good. We had them last night with potato soup for dinner. Here is my critique from George.

Mary,
Beautiful shot!
Great texture on top of the scones. The addition of the melted butter gave some nice highlights in the lower right portion of the scones. Beautiful choice of props as well. Excellent work!

Very nice Mary!

I think George is another of you Fans.

That looks wonderfully delicious, nice photo.

All this waiting is making me hungry and that beautiful photo isn't helping, LOL. They must have had to track that thing into the woods. Hope neither of them got bitten. It sounded vicious to me, all snapping jaws and clacking teeth. Both of them are excellent shots. ACK! CALL ME, LH!

Mary that looks so good, I would eat it even without chocolate on it. BTW did I mention chocolate?

Ben & Jerry just came out with Hazy Core ice cream - hazelnut (?) ice cream with a hazelnutty chocolate core - think of it as pseudo nutella meets Ben & Jerry. I was good for the day after only eating the pint straight up. Hmmmm.

Speckles couldn't they get DNA or something from the fur that was in Lancelots beak? On the various CSI's they can even get the height, sex, mating habits etc. etc. from one hair.
of the year.

Lancelot has my vote for Rooster Hero of the year. If BYC doesn't have an awards show for this, they should start one. People need to hear good things about roosters.

I'm sitting here
