Those fires are really scary. Whenever I get a customer from California calling me I always ask how they're doing.

Mutts fan now you are really scaring me:hide

I need a few more crowns, some root canals and  a partial for my front teeth.  I have a new dentist so I don't know how he will be quality wise and $$$$$ ( :th ) But. it's not the way I expected to spend every dollar  from now to  100 years in the future.

The former dentist apparently started two root canals and never finished them( re: panoramic xrays), also most of the several crowns she put in have decayed inside.

I had something similar happen. A long time ago, I had my old dentist do two fillings. They really hurt after, especially whenever I tried to eat or drink something hot or cold. I went back and was told it was just because they were a little deeper than usual, didn't even look in my mouth. Eventually, after a few years, I lost the sensitivity to heat and cold. Go to a new dentist. He takes one look at the teeth and informs me that the last dentist never removed all the decay, and just filled in over it, letting the teeth decay underneath. No wonder it hurt so much. Somehow even though it had been years the teeth weren't so damaged I needed root canals and the dentist just redid the fillings properly. My teeth felt much better afterwards.

Kelly - sorry to hear you are facing the fires again.

The idiots should be sentenced to life in prison.

Applegate Fire is 420 acres this morning and 20% contained. WE will be leaving for Reno this morning for granddaughter's birthday. Will have to take an alternate route to avoid highway closure. There is one lane open but I don't think I want to be in that mess. We'll see what it is like when we leave.

Jack seems much better. We will change the boot tomorrow and hopefully get a new one back on. All animals were fed extra this morning and they'll get fed again tomorrow. Feeders are all full. Just have to leave Tucker off at Aunt Cynthia's Bed and Biscuit,

Have a great time!

I have no patience or sympathy for people who are not just grossly negligent (bad enough) but actually malicious enough to cause such loss of resources, property, and in some cases human lives - firemen are one of our most valuable resources, and to deliberately put them in harm's way is a horrible crime. Off with their heads.

So many of our friends/family have been calling yesterday and today to check on us and offering us a place to stay if needed. We are fine right now, thank goodness. I'm not comfortable enough to unpack the car though.

I'm with you muttsfan. They are confirming 5 houses destroyed now. The fire line held last night and there isn't any wind yet. They have started retardant drops again this morning.

those river canyons are a tough place to fight a fire ,
the king fire as of last night is now finally 100% contained after 1 month
it will continue burning and smoldering in spots till the rain and snow come and stick around.

on another note the last rain caused some of the green stuff to start growing at the bottom of my property :)
