Stella's Social Club

Here is my Icelandic Cinco de Mayo Cockerel (hatched from eggs from Sheriff Mary) out in the pasture with a Icelandic hen and Swedish Flower Hen.

Pretty! I need to get some hatching eggs from you! Isi seems to be taking retirement seriously and I haven't had a fertile egg in months. Let me know if you have any.

Quote: I'm making my own Sauerkraut right now. I had a spare head of cabbage to use up, so I decided to try it. I'm using this one:

So the instructions say to ferment it until it has the taste you like. DH loves sauerkraut. I told hubby that I don't know what sauerkraut is supposed to taste like (I've never eaten it), so he needs to taste it and tell me when it's done. He says there is no way in heck that he is trying it and I'm not poisoning him.

I told him it's just salt and cabbage, it can even be water bath canned, so he doesn't need to worry. Geez, no faith I tell you.

I can let you know when they start laying again. Right now I'm not getting eggs.

I'm in the same boat. It's frustrating when I have pullets that should be laying!

No eggs here either, but that may be because here above the arctic circle we get almost no daylight.

OK I exagerate, but it is Really Discouraging when you do chores in the morning dark, go to work, and come home after work and it is dark again already. Can not wait until the solstice passes.

Second dose of Valbazen this weekend, then after 10 days the coop gets a light, then hopefully egg production will resume.
