Made a pizza Margherita from dough I learned to make in class! I used burrata cheese. It was sooooo good.

It is fresh mozzarella around a center of soft cheese made from fresh mozzarella and cream. It is super creamy! I was concerned about using it on pizza but the instructor said it was good so I tried it. We had this for lunch one day last week and both loved it.

Tonight I have whole fresh trout stuffed with lemon and herbs on the grill.

It has been weird eating meat again. Last night we had breakfast for dinner and I tried some of the savory breakfast sausage I bought at the co-op. I liked it but Michael thought that the rosemary and sage was overpowering. He likes sweet sausage. I bought some sweet maple too and we'll try it next.

Isn't this Cream Legbar boy looking fine? He's my only Rees line boy that made it through the shipping and a brooder failure.



And I need to make decisions on these fellows- Black Copper Marans. I definitely have one I favor (the left one) but can't decide which one should be backup.

Rinda your boy looks very promising! Nice. Maybe his genes will work better with the girls you have. I don't know anything about the BCMs as I never bred them but they sure are pretty. Hard choice.

I just re-homed eight birds yesterday. I was making choices as to who stayed by the light of a flashlight in the coop at night. Not a good idea. I chose correctly though. I kept an extra cockerel of each breed just in case. I only have two pairs of Pavlovskayas now after rehoming three cockerels and a pullet that wasn't crested and had a weird beard. I have eggs coming in a couple of weeks though.

I am picking up my first CSA veggie box on Wednesday. Here is what I am getting. I am excited to be forced into trying new things, different ways.

Is that what the rooster are supposed to look like? All gray and no color?

Good thing I am not keeping the roosters. Mine have a lot more color. They were very easy to tell gender for at hatch though:
