Mary, you are my hero and inspiration! I'm In about the same situation you are, health,financial and wanting some freedom, but I feel guilty about the animals but seeing you make the mature decision gives me the encouragement to sit down and really assess my situation and realize there are others out there with the same problems and it's not being selfish, it's being mature with the situation. Like you we hope when we sell the new owners will want the animals. I know you love your animals just as much as I love mine and this was no easy decision for you. My husband said to tell you "Thank You" for opening my eyes to reality.

It's so nice having some rain! It's been over a month without any moisture. Smells good, feels good, all cozy by my fire.

Very kind of you to comment. It was definitely a tough decision. Finding good homes for the animals makes it easier and we have the luxury of time to do that.

We had to leave early this morning because the house was being shown for a second time to a prospective buyer. They are torn between two homes and wanted to bring extended family to help with the decision. They stayed a long time so hopefully that is a good sign.

We also have someone flying in next week from Chicago to look at it. He "fell in love with it" from the listing.

Another buyer is trying to get her husband here to look at it. So there has been good interest.

I just hate running around with a duster every time the phone rings!

Oh boy, that bread is to die for! Wish I could taste it!

Mary, bake an apple pie just before your next prospective buyers come through. Nothing like the wonderful aroma of apple pie wafting around the house to make it seem homey and irresistible! If you haven't got time for a pie, just boil up some apples with a cinnamon stick - same effect.

We have only about 35 hens now, and we are still tied down and unable to pack up and go whenever and where-ever we please. Well, we also have 2 toddlers now, too. . . . . can't sell them.

Anyway, we are considering getting rid of everything (but maybe a handful of hens) to free us up.
