Got my hopes up for a minute yesterday. My black sex link was on the nest and when I reached for the eggs under her, she screamed at me and pecked me hard! She was also making that broody cluck sound. BUT when I went out last night, she was on the roost and her egg in the nest box.

I want a couple of broodies before Easter, so I don't have to raise these chicks!

I do know comets go broody, not sure about the blacks.

Now if you get a couple of easter eggers they go broody, as do Marans. At least for me.

Can't wait because I have a hard time hatching Marans in the incubator. I save that for the broody hens.

At least she is thinking about it. I have a tempting clutch of Icelandic eggs I'm hoping someone will start sitting on before my wife gets home. She'll break them if she catches them trying to start, but once they start she'll leave them alone.

Well you better start planning her trip. Hope it's over seas.

Off the top of my head, in the last 15 years or so, she has been to Russia (twice), Uzbekistan, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Belize,Mexico (numerous times) a bunch of Caribbean Islands, and Puerto Rico. She is thinking of going to Spain and Portugal next year. I think she is good with the traveling.

I would go back to Portugal in a minute - loved the food, wine, history. And it was clean and safe.
What about Spain!

Jason needs someone to head over to Spain and pick up 200 Penedesenca, Emporadensa and bluetail hatching eggs!
