oh nice I kinda thought about one of those but dunno tell me how they are no more hatching for a bit here, finishing up the expansion and growing up this last batch of babies..then will be processing some of the NYHAl birds for freezer camp soon

They are dual purpose meat--because the pullets get big enough to process at about 20 weeks old. They lay a lot of just large eggs--not jumbo and start laying eggs at about 22 weeks.

One draw back is that they eat a lot and the Roosters can be a bit aggressive. They two that are in the breeding pen are nice though. They like to roost on the roof of the coop too.

AW, love the chick pics. I am going to miss that part of it, but not the part between the hatching from the egg and about 16 weeks. Yuck they are messy little things.

I was interested in the meat flavor suposedly being a better tasting bird the other things you pointed out dont like that either ...love my friendly birds...

Very odd.  Usually they can't wait to tell you good news.

Our realtor was the same way! We had to hound him to get any updates and he'd nonchalantly mention very important things that we were like 'why was this not disclosed asap?!' Argh! We even fired a few realtors before this guy and he was the best lol. We had one tell us we had 10 min to look at ten acres and the house. Yikes! Nothing like putting on the preassure! So we hire yet another realtor to sell our existing place and wouldn't you know it, same song and dance! Doesn't answer calls, totally unprofessional, doesn't disclose vital information! Grrrr! Where have all the professionals gone?!

I do NOT like realters!!!! We are trying to sell an older two story brick home just in the edge of a very small town on the coast of NC. It would be perfect for young couple to rennavate, anyway she waits until its time to resign the contract for another yr and presents us with two interested people. We did not resign but if she gets us the sale we will. In the mean time the county has suddenly decided to devalue all the property in NC??? Whats with that? They will just up the taxes on it and we the home owners will be stuck with the problem.
The older I get the more I distrust and have bad feelings toward all politicians. Sigh .... and so it goes. Law enforcement can't get people to be quiet out in the country, I'm leinent but ak47 shots with in 25 feet of my home is rediculous. When I called to ask law enforcement what to do they said move!!!!!!!!! What I was here first! 10 yrs. before this family. Sometimes I frightfully understand people who take the law in their own hands. Sigh.. All I want is a bit of peace.

Ditto! The plot thickens over here. We found out today that the guy we talked to yesterday may be the problem instead! Apparently before he moved in, each homeowner on the private road chipped in $2,000.00 to improve the road. Then he comes along with big CalTrans equipment and tears it up again getting to his house. He is supposed to use the other road, but doesn't because it is rough and there is a sharp switch back. That is the one we are supposed to use too!

The seller's agent is going to try to get us in for a visit next week with the seller so he can point out property lines, and share any information he has on easements, etc. I am going to the county with contract in hand to try to ferret out the official documents.

Mary I think you should canvas the neighborhood. Everyone is probably feuding with each other. How do they feel about chickens? I think the people selling had a lot of reasons to move.

The second closest neighbor has two coops and crowing roosters. It is zoned farming.
