Stella's Social Club

I just KNEW Kelly's surprise would be a broody hen. I hope the gift for Kelly isn't an emu egg or worse!

Nope, you can only pull that one off once in a lifetime. BTW, what is worse?

Oh crap. Can you talk to her or something? Tell her she is older than dirt and hasn't laid an egg in over five years. Tell her she is sitting on shavings and that the nearest fertile egg is one coop over? Good grief.

I saw an old lady at the post office today. Her hair was snow white but she had dyed one streak of hot pink down the right side. If she were a chicken, she would probably be sharing a nest with Skye.

I am accepting a fence bid today so it won't be long before Skye is my problem again! I got my mailbox keys today and picked up your gift. I know you're gonna' like it because I want to keep it!

Then keep it! I don't need a gift.

Did you get a picture of the old lady with pink in her hair?

I had to think about this for a minute - all the deciduous trees here loose their leaves in the fall. And it does make a big mess, although the trees are beautiful when they change color. Nice to live someplace where the trees keep their leaves.

Ah, but you get the postcard beauty! We have many evergreens - pines, cedar and I think it's live oak keeps it's leaves all winter.

Quote: Ummm, no. It would look really pretty sitting in my china hutch, but it would NOT be incubated. I hear Mike wants it.

No, I am still trying to get a fenced run. I think we may have to put up one ourselves since I can barely get a return phone call from fencing contractors, much less a bid. Hopefully Kelly won't be serving them an eviction notice for a few days. "Pleeeease, Aunt Kelly."  :lau

Have you considered finding a new housing development and stopping to talk to the fence guys working there? I have found many a construction worker willing to do some weekend work.

We had a chicken mutiny today...........

I was minding her own business, checking on everyone after the extremely hot day today. Mary's birds needed some water, so I grabbed their waterer and went to fill it up. Upon opening the door to put the waterer inside the coop, Judge Judy made a break for it. Luckily, she is very old and slow, so it wasn't much trouble picking her up. I got her put in the coop, and grabbed the waterer to get it inside. I got inside with it, and luckily, I had the smarts to hold the door shut with one hand. The next thing I know, Stella launched herself at the door, dang near knocking it out of my hand. Close call, but no gypsy days for Stella on this day.
