What is worse than having over 50 chickens? Getting 5 eggs.

All of my birds have started molting early. And the ones not molting are flipping broody.

HA! I have three or four pens that have started molting early, too!! Old wive's tales around here say that means a hard winter is coming.... I guess we will see!

Just have to cut the tops off the poles and attach the netting!





We added these corner supports and I like them!



Reliable help is so hard to find these days.

Mary came and picked up her old hens, plus 2 of mine. She now has one of her Isbars back, and a young Welsummer pullet. She couldn't wait to get them home and start enjoying chickens again.

Mmmm, fresh peaches right off the tree - I managed to get a couple boxes of Faye Alberta peaches and canned them a few weeks ago ( I prefer Red Havens but hard to get up here). A little summer put away for the middle of the winter.

I am afraid none of my appliances match. Had to order a new oven last week as the touchpad went bad on my only 4 year old one, and it would cost $400 to fix - only to go out again in all likelihood. No more Maytags for me.

May tag got bought out and they are not built with the same quality anymore. I found that out when my washer broke last year.

Yes, and I was starving from painting for hours, so I stopped by der Weinersnitzel for a chili cheese dog. Imagine those two fragrances co-mingling!

I saved it to eat when I got home and out of the car!

Note to self: Decline offer to ride with Kelly to the poultry show in Modesto.
