I thought the liver filters out toxins, so if you eat liver you are getting a load of them.

Yes...That is why I don' eat liver......

It has nothing to do with the taste......

Looking forward to Florida over Christmas - my BF has a small house in Englewood, really nice and oh so much warmer than up here.
Careful, you might get used to that warm weather!

Awww, he is improving, I think. We will both be happy when he gets off of bed rest. Today is the first day I can actually say - I think the swelling has subsided!
Good news! I hope he continues to improve!

I don't eat liver, and it has EVERYTHING to do with the taste.

Liver cooked properly is very tender and delicious. Cooked wrong it's like rubbery shoe leather. I had a father who like to eat all sorts of "weird" food and made it sound so good while he was eating it that I just joined in and thought it was the greatest. So I eat weird food too!

Liver has a lot of iron in it - very good for people with iron deficiency.

I've mostly been lurking lately. Still dealing with a broken foot and my painful back issue which has finally been diagnosed as degenerating scoliosis. I never even knew I had scoliosis. Also, my son-in-law, who I love dearly, has been hospitalized on and off for the last couple of months with a failing heart. It is now looking like we're at the final resort - a heart transplant. My poor daughter is trying to hold down a high stress job and be a full time caregiver. And here I am, practically immobile and basically useless to help - very frustrating!

My grandmother used to eat weird foods............duck liver pate, sweet breads, caviar, frog legs, etc. I've always been one to try most foods at least once. I was 13 when I tried caviar with her and I about puked. Pate is gross too. I never tried sweet breads, just couldn't get past what I knew it was.

I'm so sorry, so much going on in your life too! My thoughts are with you, your daughter and SIL. I hope you recover quickly!

Cranberry sauce, done.
Pumpkin pies, done.
Chex mix (husband request), done and 2nd batch in the oven because fingers can't stay out of it.
Dough for the rolls will be made tonight as the dough needs to sit in the fridge overnight.
Candied Yams are up next.

My mom is making the stuffing and potatoes, so I don't have to do that.

Tomorrow, all I will have to do is cook the turkey, make the rolls, make the butternut squash (I'm boycotting green bean casserole, I'm sick to death of eating it) and make the whipped cream. So, it will pretty much be a day of putting stuff in the oven. I love getting most of it done a day ahead, so much easier.

Then it's just setting the table. I've gotten much better at planning holiday dinners over the years.
