Stella's Social Club

I had a nice visit with Mary and Tucker today. Thank you for the vanilla extract! I hope I didn't hold you up too much from getting your masa for the tamales.

Yikes. They had three bags on top of the counter and a long line. A lady walked up and picked up a bag and walked off. The order sheet fell off and the clerk grabbed it and said, "Mary?" She stopped and I held my hand up and said, "That me." She put it back on the counter and they told her all the bags masa on the counter were special orders. He told her would have to wait until they could make more or place an order and come back later. So I stepped out of line, picked up my bag of masa, picked up a couple bags of my dried chiles, paid and came home!

So yes, I made it in time!

Tucker went with me to El Charro, but he has been dozing on the couch since we got home. Michael even went to Home Depot and he didn't try to go with him. Tucker gave the poor little guy a work-out! Plus, now I have the tune from Tucker's favorite toy stuck in my head and can't get it out!

Thanks for the goodies Kelly. That was the first thing Michael asked about when he got up! Those brownies with the fudge on top are the bomb!

Funny that Michael asked about them. Glad you guys are enjoying them.

Tucker earned his nap, he's a sweetie. Then I went to another friends and dropped off mandarins that she bought, and pet her dog. So my dog wasn't all that happy with me when I got home.

Did your friend's dog give you a big juicy too?

Interesting. I take it you can freeze it? Is there some Christmas connection or is it something you always need to order in advance?

You can freeze the tamales once they are assembled but the masa itself turns dry and crumbly when frozen. The tamales need to steam for 90 minutes to cook the masa completely. In my opinion frozen works but fresh is the very best!

Here are pic from some I made a couple of years ago. Excuse the photography please.
