Stella's Social Club

This cracked me up. My Dad brought over some luncheon plates from their storage that he thought I might like. They are from 1960. Look closely at the corner. It is a built in ashtray!

My dad thought I was nuts when I said that was what it was. I had to go online and look it up.

There are pictures of them in use!

Hey Kelly, wanna' come for lunch next week? Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

I need those, my wife would kill me. We have exactly two plates, the rest have been broken. Hand washing,no dishwasher here. My wife has not found a pattern she likes in months and months of looking.

Mary,  I spy a partially eaten cupcake  - I call dibs on it.

No you don't want that. It probably has ashes on it. :old

Who in the world thought this was a good idea? i remember when my parents smoked we has ashtrays on the dinner table but not on our plates!

Ya know, the divided part would be great for keeping runny things separate, like cranberry sauce!

True, but you can't fit turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, candied yams, and green jello on the other part! That's a problem.:/

Well....If you break a lot of dishes, get corelle! They can be dropped at least once and not break. Too many drops and they will shatter though.

Ditto...Corelle is my everyday "china" and I love it. Get the plain white at Target. The big bowls are perfect for carrying cereal with milk though the house in the middle of the night without spilling. Ask me how I know. Hint: someone in my house does this.
