No way would I ever go over that bridge. Standing under it and looking up would bring on instant fainting and no couch in sight.

My best friend in high school lived up in Foresthill and that bridge is the only paved road to get up there. I traveled across that bridge a lot. It's now 4 lanes wide, it used to only be 2 lanes. (one each direction) They have also had to add the fencing to keep jumpers from jumping. Many suicides off of that bridge.

Got my shot for Week 8:
WEEK 8 Landscape: Wide Angle/Panorama This is a great opportunity to explore panorama stitching and create a wide sweeping landscape.

Foresthill Bridge

The second highest bridge in the world upon its opening in 1973, the Auburn-Foresthill bridge is still among the 5 highest bridges in the United States. The 730 foot high green giant still has the distinction of being the world’s highest cantilever bridge.

Total length: 2,428′
Height: 730′

I took 7 individual photos stitched them together.

imagine if the lake was there. i like the view myself and am glad they did not build the dam

Looks a lot like the Cut River Bridge west of here - higher, though, this one is only 147 feet high. There is a long, 230 step path down to where the river opens into Lake Michigan. 230 steps down, then back up too!

The bridge is named after a dear friend's Navy Seal son, killed in a helicopter crash - The Heath Robinson Memorial Cut River Bridge. This is part of the memorial

I love that quote, that can go on where ever I am planted.

We have a high bridge here in MI, the Mackinac, between Lower MI and Upper, known as the Upper Peninsula, the residents are known as Yuppers, , its high, I don't know how high but ocean freighters go under it going to Lake MI.

I hope I can get some eggs to set for the Easter Hatchalong, we'll see, do have the incubator, and room for some Icelandics..

It's great to hear from you!

We need you hatching Icelandics on the Easter HAL thread.

Hi Jake, that would be the other bridge close by up here - 199 feet from water to bridge deck, and 5 miles long

There are LOTS of people who won't drive across this one, they actually have drivers to get you across if you would prefer to ride over on the floor in the back seat. Personally I love the view.

Ummm, where does that bridge go? It looks like it drops right into the water?
