Grrrrrr, I can't seem to catch a break.

This afternoon, I heard my chickens squawking. My dog and I went out, but found nothing. After dinner, I heard the rooster alarm again, and I went out and saw something moving beyond the run. I ran up there and yelled Hey at it and the darn bobcat ran off. It dropped my welsummer hen that it killed. I was looking to see where it climbed over (my welsummer run is not covered, as it's my orchard) and the feathers were stuck in the fence. It didn't climb a post, it climbed the "non climb" fence.

Years and years without predator issues, and now it appears every critter has found my chickens. So frustrating.

So sorry Kelly. I know how you feel. Years go by and you think the system you have spent a ton of time setting up is working and then out of the blue all sorts of predators pour in and breach the fences like they aren't even there. It takes all the joy right out of keeping chickens.

I'm sorry Kelly.

Beautiful! The flowers look like mums, right? Gosh they are really pretty. How on earth do you keep your silkie white? My original light brahma is permanently brown stained.

After she molts, she's nice and white for about a day, then she is brown stained again from our dirt.

Boy, am I behind in here.

Thank you....Yes, those are mums..the one bush she is beside is pretty much done for the fall, now, I have one on the other side of the porch that is just now full and open. I love them in the fall....and the silkie being white? I don't free range them. They have their own coop and run. :p Rain does get into the sides at times, and they get their little feet feathers wet and dirty, but somehow, they are clean again. I don't wash them.

They were looking for a problem, which I knew didn't exist, and the Dr. doing it knew also, but since I was the right age...

I had my first one in my late 40's, because I had told my Dr. That my mother had just had a couple of polyps removed. He says, I want you to get one now. I was good! Thank goodness.

Oh my word..had to read this one out loud to my husband. He asks..where is this?

Wow, I didn't even know they made non climb fences! So sorry! It was bad enough for me to see a Ferrell cat .. eating my first Heritage RIR pullet. Man that made me mad. Caught her a few days later in a live trap. Off she went. She was mean.
