Robhuncor, so very sorry to hear of your losses. Yet you had a silkie live to be 10, and a hen, 14. That speaks volumes for the care you have given your flock. I never knew chickens could live that long.

Thanks Diva. I could write a book about Barney Green's life. She was a survivor and was never sick a day in her life. She also hardly ever laid an egg! But that probably helped her live the long life that she did. I loved my little white Silkie guy, Pointy. I hatched him with 3 other white brothers. I always said they all shared a brain cell, but he was so sweet and gentle and lived years after the other 3 were gone. I just get so frustrated with these darn predators. It's a constant battle, always trying to improve and fortify the pens and then, just as Kelly said, bam, they figure out how to get in again.

Thanks. Yes, the milking really ties you down.

That is pretty.

Nice, new snow always has such a fresh, unspoiled appearance. I kept telling myself that last week after our 12+" day.

Cracks me up seeing pregnant goats waddling around, they always bustle about trying to keep up with the nonpreggos.

Now, we are getting the nice, spring rain freshness. Muddy yard and muddy dogs don't look as nice as the snow though.

]Yeehaa!!

Actually drove downstate yesterday through initially snowy and iced up roads with sustained all day Gale-force winds that gusted frequently into the 70 mph range. Had to stop twice due to semis blowing over on the highway. Michigan weather can be a total crapshoot, especially in the spring and fall :/

Lots of folks up here without power, really glad my incubator isn't running yet
