Stella's Social Club

We just had a hawk attack. My son saw it sitting on the post to the run. I ran out and saw it fly off, but nothing in it's claws. I look around and see lots of blue feathers, thinking I lost one. I look and all 3 of my blue chickens are there. Found who it went after and couldn't believe it. My English Orp and she's heavy as heck! No injuries, just a bald patch on the back of her neck. Stupid hawk couldn't have carried her off if it tried.

Oh, and my stupid 3 1/2 year old Production Red is trying to be broody.

Thanks guys.

Uh no Kathy - my Production Red is playing musical nestboxes, so she gets nothing. And she is my 5th broody - plus turkeys - I don't need any more broodies!

Too late now - - - - You wanted broody hens, and now you have them.
"Ask and you will receive!"

(Or, "be careful what you wish for!)

And anyway - new baby chicks are always soooooo sooooooo cute!

Hey guys just checking in. We've been busy with grandkids visiting. Michael took them to the waterpark today and I got a little "me" time. Turkeys all went into their coop tonight withour assistance before the pop door closed ! Yay! They didn't get any outside time today because Lukka is back in the broody condo with them. She won't let the turkeys and MY Icelandics come out into the yard because her precious babies are there. We tried letting her free range with them but they went through the fence into the area where the emus have access and then took refuge under the hosue. It was horrid trying to get them all back out. Everyone just needs to grow up really fast!

Hitting the sac early tonight.... it's been too long since I've been on the mountain early on a Saturday morning.

Have a great weekend y'all!
