hello! I'm new and not icelandic but poking my head in here to say hello!
and holy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT is a mushroom!

Do ya ever go out and look over your flock and grow-outs and get all excited? I did that today. The grow-outs are growing and I just love this age. I get all hopeful, and sit there and just look and look and look. Do any of you do that?

Kathy, Sitting out in the chicken yard and just watching the youngsters go about their daily routine is one of my favorite things to do.
I haven't gotten the leg bands on the NHs yet, but there are a couple who have made themselves stand out from the rest and I can tell them apart from all the others.
The Icelandic pullets are now "worried" by only one Icelandic juvie (Falki) and the Blue Isbar cockerel I hatched from the eggs I got from Mary for Mahonri's Easter Hatchalong. I have a home for him but she's rearranging her housing and pens so he'll be here for a bit longer.
Asta hatched her brood and it's a mixed bag! Two Welsummers and a Blue Ameraucana from Jim (that is a 100% hatch on shipped chicken eggs), one Icelandic (Elska egg) and two silkies(had 4 of 6 shipped eggs hatch but one was dead in the nest and another looked not so good today when I was home at lunch)! I'll post some pics when I get back in from evening chores.
