I am in the same boat here NotAFarm.

I have 13 ducks (one boy) and I have 5 chickens old enough to lay. I am getting ONE duck egg a day and one Bantam egg every now and then.

Before the heat hit, the SLW and the EEers were laying an egg every now and then...now NOTHING!

I am giving my ducks a bit of a break here, they are molting...but they better pick it up soon......or I might be doing what Deb suggests.....

Buying eggs goes against everything we believe in and hold dear. At least buy from a neighbor or something and not those anemic things at the market!
For sure! Clearly Other Mary needs to hatch some more.

In about 3 more weeks, I'll have some wellies.

I am getting one....ONE.....egg a day right now.....I have 7 hens laying age and I'm getting ONE egg......most days....one SLW molting, one SLW raising a chick and one SLW sitting on eggs due next week. Asta with 5 chicks, Elska on 8 eggs/chicks (pics soon), Anna weaned her chicks and may be tag-teaming with Bara for the one egg I'm getting........DH doesn't understand why I have "all those chickens" and am only getting ONE egg a day.......... I keeping tellling him that those "big red chickens" (his description of the New Hampshires I got from Kathy) aren't old enough to lay........even though they look "big enough"! The Mumford & Sons stopover event is coming to the town north of us and my son and his GF are coming in for the weekend..DD and granddaughter will be here through the next week...full house of visitors and I have to go buy eggs..........

My Barred Rocks have started to molt. My (F2) Delaware girls and New Hampshires are still laying well. Icelandics are currently laying super well ! However, my layers coop has slowed down.

I bought some stuff at the Farmer's Market, but noticed that no one had eggs!

Mine are doing fine, except 4 of them won't go in the coop at night. I have to put them there. (though the coop is super hot lately) With the hawk issues lately, I don't want to clip their wings. I still cannot believe how darn friendly they are - like a dog, underfoot and following you around.

They are getting big - FAST! I'm going to have to get a current picture of them.

For the Icelandic people who know Daron (Farmerboy) , his little nephew was born and shortly after passed away. It was mentioned on the Icelandic thread. Daron's announcement is on the Michigan thread/. I'm sure you will want to offer condolences. He and his family have had so much tragedy in their lives and persevered through it all. They surely are overdue for some blessings.

I stopped at the local Farmers Market on the way home for lunch from work. I got two dozen "Farm Fresh Free-Ranged" medium eggs (one white, one brown) for $2 a dozen. I've seen this woman there many times and purchased her veggies but always was able to say "I have my own "NotAFarm Fresh Free-Ranged" eggs". Today when she saw me and asked how I was, I had to admit that I was "eggless" and was there for eggs for a change.

Still love my broodies mommas.........Elska hatched all 8 of the Icelandic eggs she had but one was dead in the nest today when I came home for lunch. I don't know what happened but it's so sad to find the little ones. Here's a pic a the cuties this morning while I was moving them to the broody pen and one of the good momma Elska checking her chicks....
