THANK YOU! After reading this some weird things are starting to make sense like, for the past few days somechick has been making a mess of the coop-throwing hay everywhere, took all the hay out of one of the nest...I didn't know what was going on..Now I do! Poor thing was looking for a place to lay.

We have ceramic eggs in our nests right now. Still waiting for our first egg. I also had been reading everywhere that they should start laying between 18-20 weeks, but this thread makes me feel a lot better!

My chickens are 22weeks and just starting to lay, don't panic yet!

not showing off. it just shows that chickens have different cycles. i read that some breeds don't lay till later on however the post said nothing on witch breeds do it sooner.. mine are RIRs... i dont have any clue why they are giving eggs so soon. but one chicken is scaring me this morning. i made a post about it.
