The bigger EEs next to him are 1 week older than he is.
Wow, yes that is a big difference! I forget how different the cockerels look, I guess because I don't raise chicks often. Lovely birds you have! Big EE fan here!
 
The boys do mature much faster. I heard a crow yesterday from inside an egg.

Yeah, I just wasn't confident because I have no experience with these breeds. I have two 11-week-old Swedish Flower cockerels and it was much easier for me to tell they were cockerels early on. My 11-week-old SFH pullet has a tiny comb! 🤷‍♀️

I get it. I've had my Marans for 4 yrs so grown used to spotting them early, but I have a hard time spotting gender in other combs like peas and rose. All in what we see everyday.
Here's an example of a breeder that breeds towards smaller combs in her BBS Silvers. Both are Blue Silvers and 4 weeks old. Still a bit confused on these myself but I believe the one perching is a male and other is female. My Marans I can usually gender by a week old thanks to Kongs ginormous comb.
