Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

YEAH THAT.

I know that the OP has been pretty careful about naming real names online, so how exactly are we going to describe to the DA which horse thief we are talking about?
I know I kinda need a guide, or recap, kindof one of those "3 minute speech" outline things to get me started.

Yes, a refresher of the pertinent information would be helpful. The thread is rather long to track all of the info back down.

There is probably a case number that could be used in the letter so that specific names would not have to be divulged to the general internet populace.

Perhaps it would be good to update the first post of the thread with the pertinent information that would need to be in the letter, those addresses, and links to any form letters that members come up with. Otherwise, that information is going to get lost in the thread. Perhaps even change the title to add that we are trying to get Max back.

I've never written a letter like this before, and don't want to sound like a nincompoop. If someone wouldn't mind, could you put up an example of what to say? I want to help, but want to actually HELP, and not hurt her case. Thanks.

OK...the DA says the charges are still on the docket but is going to get the court clerk to check out what's going on with the online issue. The second judge did his written recusal on Feb. 25. The DA filed the paperwork that same day. The district judge is the one that's holding up the line apparently. He has to delegate which judge gets which cases, so the ownership hearing and continuance of the preliminary hearing should be on the same day. The DA is going to call the district judge and see when the new date is supposed to be.

The DA has done all it can do at this point, it's just waiting on the assignment of a new judge as well as a date from the district judge.

This is what I wrote:

To Whom It May Concern -

I count my lucky stars I'm not from Oklahoma or Tahlequah, OK for sure.

What's the deal with your town? A horse (Max) was leased then stolen then sold to an uncle and the real owner can't get her horse back.

She's going through the legal system since April 09 with no results.

Someone please help this poor girl get Max back.

Can horsejody make us a draft or outline? She is a really good letter writer! I'm in!

I think I'll include "shocked and appalled" somewhere in the letter, because that sure as h@ll is what I am.

RoPo, when you started this thread I had just found out I was pregnant. My baby is due in just 6 weeks and you still haven't had your day in court, much less have your horse back.... this is ridiculous! My hat is off to you for your patience.

Robin, maybe you should write a letter asking them if your kid is going to be in nursery school before they get done with this

...tell them what you just told us...if you can't wow them with facts, then dazzle them with a bit of science...this might make a bit of a wakeup call...
