Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

There's no possible way. The kid is a minor, even talking to him could be considered solicitation of a minor. I don't want any contact with him in case it gets me in trouble. I also have no idea where the uncle's son's house is...there's no way I could find him.

You have GOT to be so careful now. No mistakes that could risk the outcome of this ridiculous saga. I wish there was a magic wand to wave that would sort this out for you. Keep strong! x

Have been watching this thread in disbelief, and can only say, "Hon, you REALLY need to get a lawyer!!!" Sent this thread address to my daughter in Fargo, who was a legal secretary/paralegal for 20 years, and she was floored that something like this could be happening.

Along that line, while watching the news last evening on Channel 2 out of Tulsa, they were running a banner at the bottom of the screen, advertising that members of the Tulsa Bar Association were in the studio manning a phone bank for listeners to call in to have their legal questions answered. No charge for this service was ever mentioned, so I don't think there is one. They have the lawyers there on Tuesdays, 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and the number of their phone bank is 918 748 1432. You will have to wait until next week Tuesday, but you need to give it a try; at the very least, they should be able to point you at some free lawyering.

I moved to OK two years ago from MT, and I miss having a horse, so have been looking for one. That search has now stopped, and I've started making plans to move elsewhere. When a state allows livestock to be sold at any auction without proof of ownership, and things like what you're experiencing can happen with seeming impunity, I'm getting out. I don't have your patience....I'd have long ago been booked into the county jail for beating SOMEBODY severely about the head and shoulders.

Good luck. Hope the TV thing can help you. Old Bat

FYI - I researched brand inspector laws when this thread started and read a few articles that indicated that Oklahoma and one other state (I'm not sure, but I think it was Kansas) are the top choices for cattle and horse thieves to take the stolen property because of the lack of brand inspection laws and the lax enforcement for livestock theft. I'm guessing that the auction sales are a booming business that they don't want to lose.

Interesting no?

What she is referring to is that I have opted not to state my position until AFTER the hearing so that nobody in the county has ANY chance to recuse, postpone, etc. from me explaining my side of the story. I'll be interested to see if they will keep their word on allowing me to state my piece after the hearing is over...

This person is laughable...#1, if they had given the story the fair treatment it deserved WITHOUT the spin in the first place, they wouldn't be getting the demands from "those people". #2, what do they think, you are in charge of an army here or something? I mean, I guess we are sort of like an army at this point

but we're all a bunch of free-thinking, free-acting people...we don't have a hierarchy in place here. We all want to see you get your horse back but it's not like you have commissioned anyone to act on your behalf. I am sure people will continue to do what they're going to do even after the case is done. If that includes pestering a paper, they will. Where does she think letters to the editor come from? People don't usually write to papers because they are happy about what is being presented...

That's what I said! I can't control what other people do! ha!

You'd think they'd be ecstatic that the paper is getting that much notice...oh well. I can't wait for the 29th...I've asked off that day AND that Saturday.
